Tysons Corner is a neighborhood with the largest concentration of office space in Northern Virginia. In 2008, there were over 46 million square feet of office space and it's always growing, which is why this area is the central business district for Fairfax County.
In the 1950's though, Tysons Corner was just a sleepy intersection between the communities of McLean and Vienna. But the region transformed when major highways - Route 7, Route 123, and the Capital Beltway of 495 - sprung up here. Now, it's the largest shopping mall in the state and every day 55,000 people shop here. Thousands more work here and why this area might be it's own city in the next 50 years or so.
