Commerce
Tucked away in the northeast corner of Oklahoma, the tiny town of Commerce, made famous by the exploits of Bonnie and Clyde, has evolved from its original mining roots to the quaint town it is today. It’s retained much of its early charisma in the red brick buildings that line Main and Commerce streets. Aging gas pumps mark the town’s museum where the Old Conoco gas station once stood, old fashioned Coca-Cola signs hark back to a long-forgotten era, and a Dairy King sits on its own, resplendent in red and white paintwork with authentic country charm.
Some parts of Commerce, OK have caught up with civilization, and you’ll find them on the western edge of town at Mickey Mantle Boulevard. Independent banks, and popular car dealerships have stores here, enormous roadside billboards point the way to local eateries, and a Family Dollar store announces its presence in a vast parking lot.
