Oroville
Founded at the beginning of the California Gold Rush in the 1840s, Oroville is a scenic and affluent community that is rich in history. Its diverse business economy mixes well with its small-town charisma making Oroville a great place to live, work, and play. Situated in Butte County in the Sierra Nevada Foothills contained by the Northern Sacramento Valley, Oroville is considered the entrance to both the Lake Oroville and Feather River recreational areas. Adjacent to the Oroville, Lake Oroville is the second largest lake in California. Oroville Dam, the tallest earthen dam in the United States, created Lake Oroville.
