Cocoa Beach
Cocoa Beach, Florida's downtown is where you want to go if you're looking for a fun-in-the-sun vibe. Downtown is the home of Cocoa Beach's municipal government center, City Hall; therefore, it can be said that the “heart” of Cocoa Beach is located downtown in more ways than one.
Before the city was incorporated, Downtown Cocoa Beach was known as Oceanus. Cocoa Beach wasn't fully established until 1925. Cocoa Beach saw its most dramatic degree of growth in the 1960s because of its proximity to American space program facilities. After every successful space flight, there was a celebratory parade held in honor of all of the astronauts. In the 1960s, the beach also was used as the setting to film the sitcom I Dream of Jeannie.
