Elmira
Elmira, New York, the birthplace of Mark Twain, is located in the Southern Tier of New York, just a hop, skip, and a jump from the Pennsylvania state line. This historic city of just under 30,000 friendly citizens and a few grouches too is home to the beautiful Elmira College, a private four-year liberal arts college that provides for the education of about 1,200 students each year. This historic college, founded in 1855, has one of two Mark Twain study centers in the entire world, a fantastic gift to the college by the great-grand-nephew of Samuel Langhorne Clemens.
Anchor Glass Container Corporation employs more than 365 hardworking employees to make 540 million glass bottles used by other fantastic manufacturers around the beautiful United States to bottle aromatic soups, appetizing sauces, tantalizing juices, thirst quenching soft drinks, along with other foods and beverages heavily desired by hungry American consumers. Reliable workers in beautiful Elmira also work for Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles Incorporated (CAF-USA Incorporated) to keep the nation’s railroads moving by designing, manufacturing, and repairing railway equipment. Still, other industrious people are working hard at Hardinge Incorporated to make collets just as they have worked there since 1890. Many people around the world are very thankful for the productive workers at Kennedy Valve, one of the world’s largest producers of fire hydrants. While smaller in number, the mighty workers at Trayer Products are equally proud of the parts that they make to hold heavy work trucks together.
