Southfield
Southfield is located in Oakland County, Michigan and is a suburb of the large city of Detroit. The motto of the city is “the center of it all” and it is considered part of the upscale office market in the Detroit metropolitan area. This city has just fewer than 72,000 people and covers an area of around 26 square miles. Several main roads run through the city including U.S. Route 24, also known as Telegraph Road which runs north to south and Interstate 696, the Walter P. Reuther Freeway, which runs east to west. State Highway 10, also known as the John C. Lodge Freeway, also runs through the city.
Because Southfield is considered the business center of Detroit's metropolitan area, a large portion of the city is taken up by office space. The area is home to the headquarters of many major companies including Federal-Mogul, Denso, Lear, the Online Trading Academy, and Guardian Alarm. In total over a 100 of the Fortune 500 companies have an office in Southfield.
There are two school districts within Southfield, MI including the Oak Park School District and the Birmingham City School District. There are also multiple different schools of higher education in the city including Oakland Community College, Everest Institute, and Lawrence Technical University.
