Escondido is a neighborhood in San Diego’s North County area. It was founded in 1888 and is one of the oldest cities in San Diego County and means “hidden” in Spanish. This hidden gem is 100 miles south of Los Angeles, 30 miles North of San Diego, and about 18 miles from the beach. It’s surrounded by citrus groves and has a good mix of small town charm with big city activities and attractions like museums, celebrated boutiques, varied cuisine, multiple art galleries, entertainment, nightlife, wineries, several parks – all in an affordable setting – even for California standards.
