Grand Junction
Grand Junction, Colorado is located in western Colorado and is the largest city in that region. It is located along the Colorado River and is home to almost 60,000 satisfied Coloradoans. Given its proximity to the Colorado River, it has been nicknamed “River City.” It is also located in the Grand Valley, a beautiful area of Colorado featuring exotic-looking mesas and canyons. Though it is a bustling city, it has a rather isolated feel given that most of the surrounding lands belong to the Bureau of Land Management and are still wild, untamed land.
With the abundant land, canyons, and mountains in the area, Grand Junction has become a wildly popular destination for mountain bikers. The area has abundant single track trails, such as Tabeguache and Kokopelli. Mountain bike enthusiasts from all over the country come to Grand Junction to take advantage of the abundance of rough riding available.
Grand Junction is also home to Colorado Mesa University. This four-year liberal arts college offers exemplary education and ample hands-on learning opportunities both in and outside the classroom. This university has become well known for its outstanding programs in science, the arts, and nursing.
