North Providence

The town of North Providence is considered part of Providence County, Rhode Island, and has a population of over 32,000, inhabiting this 5.9 square mile town. There are plenty of restaurants and attractions to enjoy while visiting this town, with nearby lodging, as well as a convenient transportation system. Even though the town is not overly large, there is a lot to do in and around it, which makes this area a great place families, friends, and even businesspeople, because it is so busy and bustling. Established in 1636, but not completely incorporated as a town until the year 1765, North Providence has grown exponentially since it first started out. It is now the home of the prestigious and highly sought after College of Rhode Island, as well as being the hometown of Ernie DiGregorio, a former NBA player, Jim Gilchrist, who was the founder of the controversial Minuteman Project, Danielle Lacourse, who was Miss Rhode Island USA in 2007 and first runner-up at Miss USA in 2007, and Zellio Toppazzini, who was a NHL - AHL hockey player as well as the Rhode Island Reds Player of the Century and the Providence College head coach.
